ABOUT CONSUL CHAN

Michael Corey Chan was appointed Estonian Honorary Consul in the State of Arizona by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia in December 2010.

Consul Chan has held management positions for Fortune 500 companies in telecommunications, banking and hospitality. He has also served in county and city government as well as volunteered for law enforcement agencies and various boards and commissions. He is fluent in English, Chinese and Spanish.

Michael is currently the Vice President of Government Affairs for Caritas in Veritate International. A non-profit organization that provides aide and resources to those affected in areas torn by natural disaster and war. He is also Chairman Emeritus of the Consular Corps of Arizona.

In 2014, Consul Chan was awarded a Papal Ambassadorship and in 2015 was presented with the Pope Francis Charity and Leadership Award in recognition of his dedication and commitment to rendering assistance to those most in need. In 2010, former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio appointed Michael as a Captain - Special Deputy in his organization and in 2011 received the City of Phoenix Mayor's Excellence Award for innovation.

Consul Chan studied at the University of Liverpool and Trinity College. He is a member of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the Consular Corps College, the Consular Corps of Arizona, a Knight of the Royal Order of the Crown of the Georgian Kingdom "KGK" and is an associate member of the Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights Templar. Michael attends First Christian Church in Phoenix and during his free time, enjoys weight training, snowboarding, travel, charitable work, international affairs and walks with his golden retriever.
