ABOUT CONSUL KUYKENDALL

Fernande "Ferney" Kuykendall, née Hastert, was born and raised in Luxembourg. She speaks Luxembourgish, as well as French, German, and English fluently. She was one of the original 5 flight attendants for Luxair, and also worked for NATO.

She moved to the U.S. in 1969, after marrying her husband, Bill, a California native. His career in international business has taken her all over the world, and she lived in Singapore for several years. She moved to Arizona in 2000, and has strong family and business ties to Luxembourg and visits every year.

Ferney is a freelance writer who shares her husband's interest in all things international. She is a member of LACS (Luxembourg American Cultural Society), IWCA (International Women’s' Club of Arizona, and PTPI Scottsdale (People to People International). She is a wildlife enthusiast and advocate who enjoys volunteering at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center. She is also a member of the Desert Valley Dachshund Club.

Other interests include bio medicine, genealogy (shared by former Speaker of the House, J. Dennis Hastert), photography, gastronomy, oenology, interior design, and gardening.
