ABOUT CONSUL TORSTVEIT

Dr. Torstveit first opened his practice in Phoenix in 1979, following the completion of his formal training in adult and pediatric cardiovascular surgery. He is a skilled cardiovascular, thoracic and trauma surgeon, who performs intricate open heart procedures on infants, children and adults.

Consul Torstveit is an international instructor and lecturer, traveling frequently to third world countries teaching and performing complex cardiac surgeries on babies and small children. He devotes a great deal of his time collecting, sorting, and shipping medical equipment and supplies used for missions conducted by the Children's Heart Project. His work has been featured on numerous occasions in local and national television and news periodicals.

Dr. Torstveit enjoys music, travel, and spending time with his fiancee, Shawn, and daughter, Kelsey. Being a former NHRA Division I and II champion, he is still an avid drag racing fan, and he occasionally serves as Track Physician for NHRA events. Dr. Torstveit has received numerous local, regional, and national awards and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000.
