ABOUT CONSUL LAZCANO DUNN

Consul General Lazcano Dunn, a 25 year career diplomat for Bolivia, was born in Madrid, Spain, during the time his father was serving as the Bolivian ambassador to the kingdom of Spain.

Lazcano Dunn followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the Bolivian Foreign Service in 1982. In 1985, he was granted a scholarship to the Institute for International Relations in Florence, Italy, where he furthered his knowledge of diplomacy before returning to his diplomatic work in Bolivia.

During his 25 year career, he served in many capacities in the Bolivian Foreign Ministry, including; First Secretary and Protocol Officer. His diplomatic career overseas included; 10 years posted as the Deputy Consul General for Bolivia in Miami, Florida and 4 years as the Consul General of Bolivia, first in San Francisco for 2 years and then in Los Angeles for an additional 2 years following the relocation the consulate to Los Angeles.

During his time serving in Southern California as Consul General, he was responsible for serving the needs of Bolivian nationals and expats residing in 13 western region U.S. states, which included Arizona. He managed consular staff, coordinated the visits of key Bolivian government leaders to Los Angeles, developed relationships with local and state government offices and other agencies to promote trade and goodwill. Lazcano Dunn cultivated during his tenure, important relationships with NGO’s and non-profit organizations, some resulting in important humanitarian and social aid for his country.

His language skills include: English, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

Following his retirement from diplomatic service in 2007, he joined his wife, in helping to promote and expand business for their company Andean Dream, which manufactures pasta and cookies made in Bolivia and Italy. These products are sold in the United States and in stores such as Whole Foods Markets and their award-winning pasta is featured on the menus many well-known restaurants throughout the country.

In 2011, Lazcano Dunn became a U.S. citizen and now resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Ingrid Hirstin Lazcano.
